Stringent EPA

I am begining to wonder if the epa will ever relize that what they are doing with diesel emissons is excessive and is completely counter productive.  My teachers believe it is a scam but they do believe it is a nessary evil.  I am on the fence with the hard times we are in economic wise it might be more profitable to be less stringent for example.  New diesel medium duty trucks are outragously expensive compared to a couple years ago.  Partially because of all the engineering that goes into developing the engines to meet epa's standards.  And further more I have to say that most diesel truck owners are very smart and know alot about their vehicle.  Most of the owners I have talked to say they will not buy another truck because of emisson equipment on the truck and for the lowered efficiency caused by emisson prevention devices.  And I think that this will really hurt the car companies buisness.
