Stringent EPA

I am begining to wonder if the epa will ever relize that what they are doing with diesel emissons is excessive and is completely counter productive.  My teachers believe it is a scam but they do believe it is a nessary evil.  I am on the fence with the hard times we are in economic wise it might be more profitable to be less stringent for example.  New diesel medium duty trucks are outragously expensive compared to a couple years ago.  Partially because of all the engineering that goes into developing the engines to meet epa's standards.  And further more I have to say that most diesel truck owners are very smart and know alot about their vehicle.  Most of the owners I have talked to say they will not buy another truck because of emisson equipment on the truck and for the lowered efficiency caused by emisson prevention devices.  And I think that this will really hurt the car companies buisness.

Hello my Friend, Diesel (CI) technology has come a long way since its conception. Remember low sulfur diesel fuel is on its way and mandated! Diesel Engine manufactures have been working on emission controls for about a decade now. It will increase maintenance work and generate a new breed of technicians just like the SI (Spark Engine) industry. These need air quality strategies will improve our way of life and increase the efficiency of the Diesel engine. Just think SI engines averaged 8 to 12 MPG and now are in the 30+ MPG range and small displacements engine make the power of large displacement engines and emission are in check! I will get myself in trouble now! Either get on the bus or get off! The new generation of Diesel technicians will make twice the money as old school! Electronics will enhance the diesel engine to meet the marching orders! Plus it’s cool to have some new technology to work on! It gets boring after a while.
