Why the Auto Industry?

Coming up on my 20 year high school reunion raised a question, has it really been 20 years? The answer is yes and then I asked my self how did I get here and why did I choose the auto industry? The answer as to why the auto industry is easy....I lOVED CARS! Some people say take something you like and make a career of it and that is how I got here.

The question I pose to you is.... Why the auto industry? Who do you look to guide you through it?

For those of us who are Techno Geeks the auto industry feeds our need for technology. The puzzle never seems to end. You gotta love it!

This industry is the most challenging, disappointing, rewarding industry you could every pick. It is not your average job but a true career path. This industry is full of change and advancements in technology. We all seek the hottest news from car manufactures about the emerging technology for the September new model year release!! We are one of the few industries that have an annual technology change date, September. We are constantly challenged by the vehicles we service and have multiple models to learn (unlike doctors, two models male and female). Plain and simple we are car guys and have oil/gas DNA in our blood. For most of us, it is a passage of rights from our fathers. Like passing down a family air loom generation to generation. With the emerging technologies of Hybird and alternative fuel vehicles it just gets even more exciting! Look for the car guys to guide you through, you know, the guy who has the dirty fingernails, wears the Ford or GM hat and drive a cool car. The automotive instructors at schools and of course any industry person.

The ability to diagnose and successfully repair is indeed part of the rewards of this profession. I personally feel that the greatest challenge lies not in repair the vehicle but being able to over come the obstacles that the design engineers throw at you to ensure that you take more time than is necessary for the repair.
