School Standards
  • An automotive technology program accredited by ASE/NATEF/AYES.
  • Web-based automotive service information as it relates to American, Asian and European models.
  • A rigorous drivability curriculum.
    • High level diagnostic testing procedures.
    • Focused on the electricity & electronics behind
      • Fuel delivery
      • Ignition
      • Emission
      • Engine control systems.
    • The use of the diagnostic tools should be a common thread woven throughout the curriculum. The students should use the diagnostic tools on a daily basis for gathering diagnostic data, and verifying repairs.
  • An instructor that is an ASE Master Auto Technician Certified with the L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification.
  • A minimum of one class specifically dedicated to training the students on the diagnostic equipment.
  • Snap-on preferred supplier.
Training Facility Standards
  • Snap-on equipped classroom or training lab for certification.
    • Minimum 20 student capacity.
    • Multimedia classroom with a LCD projector.
    • Conducive to instructor mobility during instruction & equipment use.
    • Adequate & easily accessed power outlets for each diagnostic tool.
    • Internet accessibility.
Software and Hardware Standards
  • Minimum of 1 hand held device of each model per 2 students/instructor.
  • Agreement to upgrade software equal to certification requirements.
  • Maintenance of hand held units.
  • Agreement to purchase necessary platform and equipment requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide training for technicians, secondary and post-secondary school students and instructors.
  • Attendance at National Skills USA convention.
    • Snap-on Certification Center booth representation
    • Annual meeting of training and diagnostic certification centers
  • Participation in training and diagnostic certification center network
